  • Guidelines for presentations

    Oral presentations

    Please bring an USB key with your ppt or pdf presentation: it will be loaded on a PC. You can also bring your computer (PC or Mac) and a direct connection will be provided.

    – 5 Invited keynote lectures
    45 min total (35 min + 10 min questions)

    – 5 SIGNALIFE keynote lectures
    30 min total (20 min plus 10 min questions)

    – 10 talks (selected by the Meeting Program Committee among the abstracts sent)
    20 min total (15 min plus 5 min questions)

    Posters
    To be hanged around 5pm on Tuesday May 9th, 2017 in the restaurant room. Panel size to hang the poster : height 1,80m x width 0,90m; claws provided.
    Display and scientific discussions during Wine and Cheese Poster Session, Restaurant Room, Tuesday May 9th, 2017, evening (7:00 to 9:30 pm).
    All posters will have to be removed on Tuesday May 9th, 2017 after the poster session (9:30 pm).

    Four poster prizes will be attributed by the Meeting Program Committee: 1st prize 250€, 2nd prize 200€, 3rd prize 100 €, 4th prize 50 €

    Criteria for the evaluation of SIGNALIFE poster session and attribution of Poster Prizes by the Meeting Program Committee

    Fourty-four posters will be presented during the Wine and Cheese Poster Session and will be eligible for poster prizes. The Meeting Program Committee had decided the following evaluation process.

    The poster session will include 2 rounds. During the first round, Jury members will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will visit 11 Posters. Each poster will be evaluated by a minimum of 2 jury members. Authors will have no more than 3 minutes (strictly respected) to present their work.This presentation will be followed by 2 minutes of questions by Jury members.
    At the end of the first round, each jury will select 1 (or 2) posters for the second round. During this second round, Authors will have no more than 3 minutes (strictly respected) to present their work in front of the whole jury (15 members). This presentation will be followed by 5 minutes of questions. At the end of the second round, the jury will award 4 posters.

    Names of the awardees will be given on the 10th May during the Poster award ceremony.

    Scoring

    1st Round :
    The Posters will be graded on a raw scale of 1 to 15. Points will be earned in three areas :

    Poster Content and Form (5 points)
    – Poster should be easy to understand without oral presentation
    – Poster should follow a logical progression
    – Text and graphic illustrations should be well balanced
    – Poster should be readable from a distance of 60 cm

    Oral Presentation (5 points)
    – The oral presentation must not exceed 3 minutes.
    – Efforts should be made to present the poster in simple terms to non-specialists.

    Answers to questions (5 points).
    – Answers to questions should be clear and concise and should demonstrate scientific maturity of the presenter.

    2nd Round :
    Posters selected for the second round will be scored on a raw scale of 1 to 20. Given the extended time allocated to questions (5 minutes instead of 2 minutes for the first round), this part will be scored on 10 points.

    Points will be earned in three areas :

    – Poster should be easy to understand without oral presentation
    – Poster should follow a logical progression
    – Text and graphic illustrations should be well balanced
    – Poster should be readable from a distance of 60 cm
